Creating A Family Friendly Home

When You Have Toddlers
Lots of people believe that when they have toddlers, things that are breakable must be banished into the closet until it's safe to display them again, but this isn't so. The only thing that you actually need to accomplish will be to rearrange a few things - breakable knickknacks may be moved to an unreachable place such as a shelf or perhaps a piano top that is outside of the child's reach. It is possible to shift unbreakables, like silver, baskets, wooden boxes, and metal objects, on to the lower surfaces that are toddler height such as lower shelves, coffee tables, and side tables.
Inside the toddler's bedroom, it is possible to put books and soft toys on your low shelves where they will be accessible, and display your breakable keepsakes and picture frames on the top shelves where they cannot be reached. Whether you have children or not, it can feel like there's never enough storage space. One choice is to save out of season clothing in closed storage bins out of sight, an excellent location is on the top shelf in their closet.
Whether it's inside the child's room or any other room in your home where your son or daughter plays, it's nice to have some open shelving for children to have their toys and books, but it's also nice to keep some of them out of sight to get a less cluttered look, and hopefully less overall mess. A trunk of some sort is desirable for many people, but be careful with this choice since the lid might slam down on your child's little fingers. A better choice for closed storage would be cabinets with either sliding doors or drawers or doors that open out, or a mixture of both. It is easy to find this type of storage cabinet that's the right size to put within your closet, too.
