Costa Rica Ranked As Number One Destination For Latin American Destination Weddings

A recent poll conducted by the leading online wedding planning website in the United

States TheKnot.com has revealed that Costa Rica is the leading wedding destination in Latin America.

The Knot Market Intelligence: 2012 Destination Weddings Study showed that 36 per cent of the 2,757 respondents voted Costa Rica as a top destination for tropical weddings abroad.

According to the study, one in four Latin American weddings takes place in Costa Rica and it is not hard to see why due to the countrys breathtaking natural landscapes; made up of lush rainforests, volcanoes, mountains, pristine white sand beaches and cascading waterfalls.

Costa Ricas exotic locales, romantic atmosphere and favourable climate are only a few of the reasons why more and more couples are finding themselves saying I Do in Costa Rica, explained Ireth Rodriguez, the Deputy Manager and Marketing Director for the Costa Rica Tourism Board.

What truly distinguishes Costa Rica from other wedding destinations is its unique blend of natural atmospheres with premium luxury services, which allow couples to immerse themselves in nature while enjoying high-quality offerings and amenities,

Rodriguez added: Were excited to be recognised by The Knot, and we look forward to seeing even more couples celebrate their special day in Costa Rica.

The countrys Certificate for Sustainable Tourism program enables eco-conscious couples to plan eco-friendly Costa Rica weddings by using the governments rating system to seek out green hotels and resorts, tour operators, car hire companies and restaurants.

While Costa Rica scooped the top spot for destination weddings in Latin America, Nicaragua came second with 13 percent of the votes and Belize and Brazil were ranked in joint third place with 11 per cent.

Mexicos top destinations for weddings abroad include the Riviera Maya in first place and Los Cabos and Cancun in second and third place.

Caribbean weddings are among the most popular choices for brides and grooms from all over the world and the nearby Costa Rica is a fantastic place to celebrate nuptials and romantic honeymoons with exciting activities such as scuba diving, trekking through rainforests, surfing, climbing, rafting, kayaking, mountain biking and horse riding.
