Choosing The Best Hair Extensions.

Hair extensions have long been a popular way of a achieving a new style and creating a new look

. A quick change to your hair can work wonders on improving the rest of your body, not to mention making you feel brilliant and gorgeous!

There are a lot of options to choose from though and it can be a little confusing trying to find the right product for you.

The main thing to consider is whether to choose real or fake hair. There are pros and cons to both options so it"s a good idea to do your research and look at everything.

Let"s start with synthetic hair.

The main advantage of this choice is the cost. Fake pieces will be far less expensive than most real hair options.

More and more high street stores now sell synthetic hair so it"s not difficult to find. You can find everything from novelty wigs and costume hair to pieces designed to look as natural as possible.

Perhaps the main disadvantage though is that no matter how well designed and created, synthetic material will never look 100% natural. Fake extensions are made with artificial fibre, and although they can be coloured and styled straight or into waves and curls, you will probably be able to tell that they aren"t real, at least at close inspection.

But if you"re just using a few pieces to build up your own hair and add volume and a little length, you"re sure to get good results if you purchase quality material.

Another advantage for the synthetic choice is they do not need to be applied using any glues or chemicals to attach them to your hair. Clip-in extensions are popular because they are easy to put in yourself and can be taken out after one use and reattached when required.

Many people prefer this but it"s not the most practical option if you"re likely to want to wear them every day.

This brings us to real hair extensions. This is the most popular choice for many as it gives you a longer lasting style. If done professionally they can last for months and stay in your hair so you don"t need to reapply.

The main advantage is the natural effect you get. As they are made with human hair, they blend seamlessly with your own hair and can be undetectable. They can be styled and washed the same as your own hair too so they don"t need much special treatment.

You do have to do some maintenance though, like using a more sensitive shampoo perhaps and doing your best to keep your hair tangle free, but a stylist can explain all of this to in detail.

Which brings us to the other main advantage of choosing real hair and having them applied by a professional; you get the best quality results and the benefits of all their expertise on how to keep your hair in the best condition. This means they"ll last longer and stay healthy for as long as possible.

One disadvantage of this might be the cost, you are likely to pay more for real hair than artificial but if you shop around you can still find good deals. And the old rule does apply- you get what you pay for; if you pay a little extra you will get much better quality and longer lasting results.
