Sleep-related neck pain can be improved by changing pillows. When driving, take regular breaks to walk around and stretch. A support pillow or wedge may help reduce driving stress.

Here too, you can use ice and anti-inflammatory medications. Once you figure out what position is causing the neck pain, it is a matter of retraining your body to avoid that posture. It can take a bit of work, and you have to be mindful of your body, but it is a simple enough fix.

Chronic Pain

If you find that your neck pain increases or becomes constant, it is time to check in with your doctor. There are many ways to deal with neck pain that are simple and successful. Your doctor will likely order some scans or x-rays, perform a number of movement tests, and suggest physical therapy or massage to help you loosen up tight muscles in your neck.

Only in extreme situations or when skeletal problems are spotted is anything more needed. You don't need to live with neck pain, and managing first aid at home is a great way to start treatment.
