Catering For Summer Weddings
Love has been in the air as of late, with a lot of people getting engaged or married in the coming months
. It seems to be more than usual, but it's all about who you know that's getting married right now. Truthfully, there are 2.3 million weddings a year in the United States. That breaks down to 6,200 weddings per day. And summer is the biggest season, with June and August capturing 10% of that figure each, and July with 9%. That means getting catering that works for the summer months.
Food and weather go hand in hand. The time of year is going to dictate the kind of food served at your wedding. And when it comes to summer weddings, there are some surefire staples as well as items to stay away from when you think about your catering menu.
Start with drinks. Hot weather means having refreshing drinks on your catering menu. You might want to forgo wine and try something fun, like fruity cocktails. Lemonade and iced tea bars are a very popular choice because they are both beverages associated with summer. And of course, soda for the kids and those who want a different option is always welcome. Ginger ale and seltzer are great choices.
For entrees, barbecue is popular. It's another food we associated with the bright, sunny months. Getting barbecue catering is easy nowadays, especially with flexible catering companies that can do a little bit of everything. Having some steak and pulled pork, as well as some side dishes like coleslaw and corn is great for an outdoor wedding and one that you want to be more laid back and fun.
Ice cream is of course a popular dessert since it will cool off your guests and having a sundae bar is wonderful, providing it can be well taken care of and put out of the sun, especially if your reception venue is outdoors. Adults and kids will love making their own sundaes with everything from various flavors to a choice of toppings and a cherry on top. Miniature desserts are also popular all year round, but are easy to care for and dish out in the hot weather.
So for this year's summer wedding, whether it is yours or a family members, plan on a great summer catering menu. It will really embrace the season and keep all of your guests happy and well fed.
