. Although there are alternative means to make one's breasts larger, cosmetic surgery can be considered an instant remedy to a flat chest. In spite of the ease of the operation, there are many possible complications and risks that can occur during the surgery and after it.
Bleeding and Adverse Reactions
Some of the more common complications that could arise during breast enlargement surgery are bleeding and adverse side effects from medication. Bleeding can occur at anytime but there are some ways that can indicate if the patient is prone to bleeding or not. Tests can be taken to see if the patient has underlying conditions which can affect the surgery. Adverse reactions to the anesthetic used during the procedure can occur. The reactions can be anything from shock to cardiac arrest. Allergic reactions can also occur during the surgery but these can usually be monitored well if the patient underwent tests and screening to see what drugs and medications she is allergic to.
Infections and Others
After the operation, there are more possible complications that ay occur to a patient of breast enlargement. An infection is one of the more common complications that can occur after am operation. This is usually easy to prevent with the use of antibiotics but some patients do not follow the exact dosage and timeline of the prescription thus making them more prone to an infection. Other possible risks and complications are leakage of the implants placed in the chest. The implants placed in the woman can actually leak or discharge its contents after several years or after the woman suffers trauma to the chest. Saline filled implants are less dangerous than silicone ones because salt is one of the substances that is naturally found in the body. Silicone on the other hand, is a foreign substance which can be hazardous to the woman's health. Long term exposure to it outside of the sac which is supposed to contain it can cause many complications including tumors and growths.
Breast feeding can also be affected by the presence of an implant. It can actually restrict the ducts that produce the milk and possibly limit the amount of production. In some cases, milk production is not possible at all. Women who wish to have children and breastfeed them after the operation should discuss these concerns with their doctor before the breast enlargement operation.
