Breast Augmentation - Your Surgical Experience

1. Preparation Before Surgery
Your surgeon may require you to have a mammogram beforehand and then another one some time after surgery. These two tests will reveal any changes within your breast tissue. He'll probably suggest you quit smoking if you're a smoker. It's important to eliminate aspirin and any other anti-inflammatory medicines that can increase bleeding during surgery.

In only a few days, you'll be able to get back to normal. Plan to have your bandages removed probably within the week, but your surgeon may have you wear a support bra for a while. There will be some stiffness or soreness in the chest area. Your doctor can prescribe a drug to reduce these adverse sensations. The ability to shower should return between three to seven days after surgery. Stitches will be removed in about a week. Some swelling and discoloration will be normal but will fade away quickly. Some swelling may last as long as a month.
It shouldn't be too long before you can gradually return to your normal daily duties such as housework, caring for your family or returning to work. Just be careful and avoid too much strenuous activity for a few weeks. Be gentle with your new breasts and yourself for at least a month after surgery. It won't be long before you're showing off your new figure on the beach for the entire world to see.
