Breast Augmentation: Here Are The Basics You Need To Know
Full breasted and curvy female body shapes are greatly valued in our society
. Little girls in our culture grow up surrounded by media images of the ideal woman being one with an ample bust line.
Even Barbie dolls are buxom. If that busty ideal is not in a woman's genetic makeup, being sentenced to a life with a flat chest can be a bit hard on the self esteem.
Many women have lost their shape through childbirth and lactation, as well. They may have a wonderful bouncing baby but the bounce in their brassiere just isn't what it used to be. There are also women who have lost a breast to cancer and choose implants in order to reconstruct their breast.
Each year, a multitude of women decide to undergo the surgical procedure called breast augmentation. This is a procedure performed by a reputable plastic surgeon and usually on an outpatient basis, which means no overnight hospital stay. Small incisions are made in either the armpit area, beneath the breast tissue or under the nipple and areola, all being inconspicuous locations where the scarring won't be very noticeable.
Through the opening of the incisions, the physician will place an implant filled with either a silicone substance or a saline solution. The implant may be positioned either behind or in front of the muscle wall.
It is best for a woman to wait until she is approximately twenty-two years old before undergoing the augmentation procedure because this tissue will continue to grow and develop into the early twenties.
The patient should be in good physical and emotional health, as is true before electing to obtain any type of cosmetic procedure. She should also make sure that the decision to have her breasts augmented comes from her own desire to alter her physique, rather than as a way to please others. If someone in her life, such as a husband or boyfriend, is pressuring her to do this in order to look more appealing to them, it would not be a wise choice.
There are a couple of considerations to think about before making the decision to be implanted. For one thing, there is the possibility that it may be more difficult to nurse a baby.
If there are still plans in a woman's future to give birth and breastfeeding is something that is important to her, then she may want to wait until her last baby is weaned. Another thing to think about is the possibility that there may be a loss of sensitivity around the nipple area due to changes in nerve sensation.
After pondering all of these facts, if it appears that the time is right for this figure improvement, then go for it. This enhancement can be a huge boost to the self esteem. Feeling good about your body image naturally results in increased confidence which in turn spills out into all other areas of life.
