Bonding Time Between Fathers And Babies
If adults communicate through verbal means, babies' first form of communication is through touch
. Much has been written about mother and infant bonding by means of breastfeeding, touching, and mainly through skin-to-skin contact. Since day in and day out moms and the little one are together, both naturally develop and unbreakable bond that even started during pregnancy.
Most often, dads are left out of the picture - with them entrusted the role of sole provider of needs and other monetary related responsibilities. But dads don't have to be relegated as a support figure only. Dads can be "there" for the baby from Day 1. In fact, these days, there is a growing number of "hands on dads" who proudly say they change their baby's diapers at night and prepare infant formulas for their little ones.
To ensure dads develop a strong bond with the baby, just like how a mother and an infant develop a strong bond, dads may be introduced to the concept of baby massages.
The little ones respond to skin contact and constant stroking can help build a strong bonding relationship between fathers and infants as well. Touch also helps in the mental and physical health of the baby by sending off signals that they can decipher as loving and caring for the infant. These are vague concepts for the baby, but the effect the sense of touch produces in the small one is immense. This then becomes the beginning of a trusting relationship between the baby and the father.
Likewise, through the sense of touch, your little child will feel relieved of any physical discomfort that they may have such as constipation, indigestion, and colic. Touch is also known to encourage small ones to sleep better as well as promote good circulation. Massaging the knees also help strengthen the baby's bones and will help avoid development of bow legs in babies.
