Beautiful Waves Using Curling Iron
Curling irons are versatile styling tools to produce wavy curls effectively
. A conventional curling iron is an electrical heat tool that is attached with a long, narrow barrel.
Depending on how the iron is handled, an iron can produce a number of kinds of waves, from defined to piecey.
Practicing and getting used to the motion of winding pieces of hair around the barrel and holding it in place is important. An iron can create several kinds of waves.
Things required:
1 inch curling iron (with or without clamp)
Protective heat spray or serum
Protective glove
Hair butterfly clips
Steps
By holding the hair at least six inches away from head, apply a protective thermal heat spray or serum over hair consistently. Do not spray the roots, as the iron won't be used to the base of the hair.
Connect the iron into an outlet and choose temperature depending on hair's texture. To get a lasting curl, thick, coarse hair requires higher heat; whereas thinner, naturally straight hair needs less heat.
Divide hair into a bottom half and top half and make use of a butterfly clip to hold the top half, as you start with the bottom.
Separate just about a 1-inch section of hair with one hand. Hold the iron barrel side down with the other hand, and toward the top of the hair. Wind the section of hair around the barrel until the complete piece is wrapped around and you are only holding the tips.
Wait for at least 5 seconds for longer thicker hair. Drop the barrel out of hair gradually while releasing the tips of the hair, saving the curl as much as possible.
Do again until both the halves are fully curled. Now, comb hair using fingers to loosen and break up pieces of hair for more natural-looking waves. Use spray if desired.
Tips:
Use less heat for softer waves. Section your hair in larger than 1-inch pieces or utilize a larger barrel iron.
Use a smaller barrel curling iron for tighter waves. Hold in place longer and use smaller sections of hair.
Wrap the hair around the closed clamp, if your iron has a clamp. For this type of wave, using the clamp is not necessary.
