It goes without saying that the best man should say how beautiful the bride is and how lucky the groom is to have found her. He should tell a story about his relationship with the groom. This will have to be one that is suitable for such an occasion. The bride and her parents will not want to know about the grooms visits to strip clubs or about previous girl friends. In fact it is always worth remembering that a wedding is a family occasion and as such the speech should be light-hearted but never contain anything blue. Above all he should make the guests feel valued and comfortable and if he can leave them chuckling so much the better.
A best man will usually have been chosen because he is close to the groom. He may be a brother or a best friend. Naturally, then, he will want to wish the couple well in the future.
