Baby Boomers Return To Contacts With Biofinity Contact Lenses

As far back as Leonardo da Vinci, people were already thinking about the contact lenses

. Ren Descartes, Thomas Young and other famous historical figures expounded on the idea and came up with their own versions of contacts. However, centuries would pass before the baby boomers would become the first generation to truly embrace the idea and become their primary consumers. This, of course, was long before Biofinity Contact Lenses came onto the scene.

The contact lenses of the late 1960s and early 1970s were rigid and quite uncomfortable. It was not unusual for their wearers to contract eye infections because of the extravagant and complicated ways in which they had to be cleaned to kill the bacteria that collected on them. Many people of this demographic who tried contacts back then gave them up entirely in favor of glasses. Of late, however, many people in their 50s and 60s are beginning to return to contact lenses. This is due largely in part to all of the publicity about how comfortable today's contacts are.

Aquaform Comfort Science Technology has changed the way many people view contact lenses. Biofinity Contact Lenses are made from this unique material. It is moist, breathable and remains comfortable on the wearer's eyes. They are much healthier for the eyes than the old rigid types of lenses, because they allow high levels of oxygen to reach the eyeball.

The old rigid type of hard contacts gave contact lenses a bad reputation with many baby boomers. They could not be worn in challenging environments, such as outdoors on a particularly windy day, without major eye discomfort. Then, in the late 1970s things improved a bit with the invention of oxygen-permeable contact lenses. These types of lenses made vast improvements, both with the wearer's eyesight, but also in the fact that they could be worn in more adverse conditions than the older style of rigid contacts.

As baby boomers neared their 40's, the abandonment of contact lenses became more prominent as Presbyopia began to set in. This is a common condition that occurs as people age that causes difficulties in focusing and seeing fine print up close. With the bad reputation that contacts had, many of the boomers did not realize that there was a much better option than glasses.

As word about the new contact lens technology spread, more and more baby boomers started returning to contact to experience this new phenomenon. These lenses provided a whole new experience for people who thought they could never wear contacts again. They are moist and very resistant to drying out. It is difficult for protein deposits to form on them as they did on the old types of lenses, and they do not have any type of wetting agents or surface treatments added to them, so they are comfortable all the time. The new lenses are so comfortable and safe that people can actually wear them for as many as 6 nights and 7 days.
