Avoiding And Doing Things During Pregnancy

When you are pregnant there are many things you should do

. You should exercise as it will help you during delivery and throughout your pregnancy.

However, you should exercise in a manner that is safe for you and the baby. You should not exercise to hard or in a manner that is extremely bouncy, such as running.

A great alternative to running for pregnant women is working out on the elliptical. The elliptical provides all of the benefits of running, but eliminates the risk of joint injuries due to the up and down bouncing motion that comes with running.

Ellipticals also provide other benefits such as the convenience of working out at home, watching your children while you exercise and so forth. You should also eat healthily and take prenatal pills when you are pregnant.

Allow with the many things that you should do when you are pregnant, there are many things that you should not do. The things that you should not do will put your baby at risk or complicate your pregnancy in other ways.

The most serious things that can happen include a dislocated placenta or placental abruption. Over bleeding can also result in a miscarriage, shock, or even death.

Women who are obese and short tend to suffer from more complications during pregnancy and child birth than other women. Studies have also found that women who are below the age of 15 and above the age of 35 tend to be more at risk for complications as well.

Those who are under 15 tend to have babies that suffer from preeclampsia, low weights, and pre-term problems. Mothers who are over 40 years old tend to have health complications such as hypertension, gestational diabetes, and are usually at a higher risk of giving birth to babies with genetic disorders and birth defects.

However, by avoiding many different things, you can lower your risk for these things no matter what age you are. The first thing you should avoid is eating out.

By eating out you increase your risk of catching a stomach illness which may include loose motions. Loose motions may lead to other complications as well.

During pregnancy your body is working hard to provide for another life and your immune system is weakened. This makes it harder for you to fight off any type of illness, including food poisoning.

If you have to eat out, try to select restaurants that look clean, wash your hands before eating, and try to select items that will be least likely to contain harmful bacteria.

This means that you should avoid mayonnaise, meats (particularly deli meats), eggs, and so forth. Low fat options are generally also the best.

Of course, when you cook at home you should also make sure that you cook things thoroughly and avoid certain foods that could harm you. This will include some types of fish and soft cheeses.

It is also a good idea to avoid fried foods as much as possible. In general, avoiding meat while you are pregnant is a very good idea.

Another thing that you will need to make sure you avoid is gaining extra weight. Many women see pregnancy as a time when they can eat whatever they want and however much they want because the fat will be hidden by a pregnant belly.

However, gaining extra weight during a pregnancy can lead to complications and problems in the baby. The right amount to gain during a pregnancy is dependent on your pre-pregnancy weight and body mass index.

If you are considered to be underweight before pregnancy you will want to gain 28 to 40 pounds. If you are considered to be a normal, healthy weight before pregnancy you will want to gain between 25 and 35 pounds.

If you are overweight before pregnancy you will want to gain 15 to 25 pounds. If you are considered to be obese before pregnancy you will only want to gain 11 to 20 pounds.

Notice that even if you are overweight, you will still want to gain weight during pregnancy. You most definitely do not want to lose weight during pregnancy.

It is okay if you lose five pounds in the beginning due to morning sickness. However, you do not want to starve yourself or the baby of the nutrients that they need to be healthy and strong, which is what you do when you lose weight overall during a pregnancy.

This means that you constantly stay at the pre-pregnancy weight and below. It does not mean that you end up being a weight lower than your pre-pregnancy weight after you deliver.
