Are You Worried About An Unwanted Pregnancy?

There might have been an instance where you made out and forget to use contraception

because of the excitement or any other reason at that particular moment. And now you must be worried about sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or an unwanted pregnancy. Though much can't be done about STDs, help is available for avoiding unwanted pregnancy.

Emergency contraception is helpful under certain situations such as :

Sexual assault or rape

Condom breakage

When birth control pills are not taken by the woman

When a couple has unprotected sex

Emergency contraceptive pill

As its name suggests, it is used for emergency contraception and it is intended for occasional use only. Women choose contraceptive pills because of anxiety, self pity, regret, and shame they would have to go through if they choose abortion. There is a lot of mental trauma attached to an abortion, and this is the reason they wish to avoid pregnancy in the first place. More and more people are becoming aware of emergency contraception.

Women who are already pregnant should not take these pills. Also, women suffering from vaginal bleeding for reasons that are not known should avoid this pill and if it's to be taken at all, they should take it only after talking to the doctor. Emergency contraception pills should not be taken regularly. If emergency contraception pills fail and the woman who is using them becomes pregnant, they don't seem to damage the foetus.

If a woman is taking emergency contraception regularly, she should talk about it to her doctor. This might have a long term effect on her health and the health of her baby born after regular usage of these pills. Moreover, these pills are not the most effective treatment option for preventing pregnancy, so women should not rely on it too much.

Emergency contraception is different from abortion pills. The most common type of emergency contraception used today is the morning after pill. It can be taken by a woman after 3-5 days of unprotected sex. The name morning after pills is misleading because you do not have to necessarily take them in the morning after you have unprotected sexual intercourse.

ellaOne

ellaOne is an emergency contraceptive pill, which works by delaying ovulation. It contains 30mg of ulipristal acetate, and can be taken up to 5 days after unprotected sexual intercourse. ellaOne modulates progesterone receptors in the body. A research conducted on more than 2600 women revealed that traditional pills work for only up to 3 days with a success rate of 88%, and ellanOne works up to 5 days with a success rate of 98%. Around 7 out of 8 women who had unprotected sex did not get pregnant after they took ellaOne.

This pill has been designed to help women avoid unwanted pregnancy, especially during the risky period after they have unprotected sexual intercourse. It is safe and convenient for women and cost effective as well. The chances of a woman getting pregnant after taking this pill are halved as compared to other pills available on the market.
