The Zone diet aims for a balance of at least 40% carbohydrates, 30% protein and 30% fat for each meal. The diet allows you to control your insulin level, resulting to a better weight loss endeavor. The key to the Zone diet is basically not eating less calories than the recommended daily amount, but to modify what you eat so that balance is achieved.

The South Beach Diet

The South Beach diet also focuses on controlling insulin levels by lessening the amount of refined carbohydrates but focusing more on unrefined slow carbohydrates. The South Beach Diet was created as a counter to the high-carbohydrate and low-fat diet that was very common during the 1990s
