Omega 3 and weight loss?
Well, now that the nonsensical "low-fat" craze has passed, people are starting to see that our current obesity epidemic has very little to do with people eating too much fat.
In fact, science has been discovering quite the opposite actually. One of the reasons that so many of us are fat and sick is because we actually don't eat enough fat. That's right. We don't eat enough.
I was really surprised when I discovered this myself. But here's the clincher: We don't eat enough of the right kinds of fat. That's right. Did you know that there are good fats, bad fats, and really bad fats? And did you know that the good fats actually help you lose weight?
How do they do this?
Well, the good fats have been proven to actually turn on your fat burning genes. You see, as science is now uncovering, your food is much more than just energy for your body. It actually contains information that dramatically influences your entire physiology. There is a new, emerging science, called "Nutrigenomics", and it is revolutionizing the way that we see food.
And so if you're serious about forever beating obesity, you have to come to terms with the fact that there are different types of fats. The good fats help you burn fat, and the bad fats cause your body to store fat (among other problems).
So what types of fats should we be consuming? Well, there are a few different kinds, but the most important fat that you should be consuming on a regular basis, are Omega 3 fatty acids. These are the KING of the good fats. Your body loves you dearly every time you consume this crucial fat. Now of course permanent weight loss has a lot more to do with just the link between Omega 3 and weight loss. There are many other factors to consider as well (which I go into at my website). For instance, you can't continue eating all the really bad fats with the good fats, and still expect to be healthy. You do have to be willing to give up the bad fats, wherever you find them.
But the good news is, that if you're willing to take the right steps, Omega 3's might just be that extra boost that you're looking for.
So where do you find this precious fat?
Well, there are a few good food resources for finding it (certain types of organic fish, flax, certain types of eggs, walnuts, etc).
But in all honesty, especially if you live in a typical suburban city, incorporating sufficient Omega 3's into your diet is extremely difficult (not impossible, but difficult). And so I strongly recommend that you seriously consider supplementing with this fat (not just for weight loss assistance, but also for brain health, skin health, joints, inflammation, etc).
There are no shortage of people who, after discovering the link between Omega 3 and weight loss (and other benefits), have totally turned their lives around with this fat.
