Over 50% of Americans are overweight, then many people try various ways to lose weight
, from fad diets to even weight loss pills. However, it won't help. As you can see the numbers of overweight people are not decrease.
This is because of the wrong information about weight loss. Here are the most famous myth about weight loss:
1. Starving
Starvation is the worst thing you do to your body. When the body realizes there is no food, there is no energy, then it slows down your metabolism in order to conserve whatever energy is left. Slow metabolism is a first cause of weight gain.
2. Low carbohydrate diets
Carbohydrates hold up to 4 times more water than protein. It is also unrealistic to think that you can go on forever without eating carbs. Once you gradually start to add carbs to your diet, you will quickly add any of the weight that was lost.
3. Eating sugar free or fat free foods
The challenge with fat free and sugar free food diets is that these foods are loaded in calories. Most people over eat these fat free foods as they think that they are better for you since they are low in fat or sugar. Eating more calories than you burn is what causes weight gain.
4. Exercise more to lose weight
The ideal exercise term is one hour a day, 5 days a week for optimal weight loss. If you push your body without rest, your muscles begin to use themselves as fuel. Reduction in muscle will slow down your metabolic rate thus reducing the amount of fat you burn.
5. Sit ups to lose belly fat.
Belly fat can only be reduced by a proper diet and cardiovascular exercise. This process is tedious and can take a long time. The human body loves to store fat in the abdominal areas first while making in the last place on the body it burns.
