5 Communication No-no's For The Success Of Your Business

You have always dreamed of running a successful enterprise

, free from the hassle and worries of a boss breathing over your shoulder every five minutes. Unfortunately, you've never had the confidence to take that big step. But you need to know before another day passes by that you can accomplish the goals you set out to accomplish. All you need is a strong sense of communication skills. In order to fire your boss and get to the point where you want to be, your communication skills must be strong, and that means avoiding these common mistakes:

Paying too much for traditional phone usage. Phone companies are becoming irrelevant. Who knows where they will be in another two decades? What makes them so out of touch with the rest of the world? They simply charge too much because they use an archaic form of phone relay. In order to recoup losses for providing you with their service, they have to charge more on account of all the costly tolls incurred by the transmitted signals. The results are higher long distance and higher international calling. Not good if you want to expand your business outside of your home town!

No means of contact outside normal business hours. Without services such as phone number forwarding, an 8-5 office is only available to do business from 8-5. Some professions would absolutely die if they took those kind of hours. Emergencies do not happen during normal office hours. Most people have jobs that prevent them from taking advantage of other business opportunities. They need that time outside of work to follow up on the things that are important to them. Call forwarding availability allows that to happen.

Poor customer service skills. Good customer service is simple in theory, yet many businesses can't get it right. All you need to know is what the customer wants, and what the customer needs. They are often different things. Know how to pinpoint them, and know what to do about them, and your business will never suffer as a result of poor service.

Lack of market knowledge. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all people all of the time. It doesn't take long for those with an interest in what you do to catch on to poor expertise. Honesty is always the best policy. If you don't know an answer, let them know you don't, but promise to find out.

Non-localized phone numbers. Many take this step for granted, underestimating the psychological edge obtaining one can give you in a new market. Avoid it at your own risk.

Without direction, no company will stand. Show your customers you have a desire to serve them and put the tools in place to help you do so. That's the only way to succeed.
