1. Do Not Try to Manipulate Your Ex Boyfriend Back to You
Your ex-lover will recognize coercion for what it is. It will make your ex-lover mad, and they will resent you for it. No one appreciates being manipulated.
When you attempt to manipulate your ex boyfriend back to you, you are conveying several unpleasant messages to your ex.

2. Do Not Beg, or Try to Induce Remorse or Sympathy
Pleading shows desperation, which drives people away. Trying to induce shame or pity in your ex-lover are kinds of emotional blackmail. Your ex-boyfriend will resent this for the same reasons mentioned previously. Your ex-lover will be annoyed, angry, and frustrated that you are causing them to feel that way. If you always try to induce such unpleasant feelings in your ex, they will begin shunning you.
Such methods will also make your ex lose respect for you. It is difficult to respect a girl who is being pathetic (worthy of pity). Would YOU respect a man who is trying to emotionally coerce you?
3. Do Not Issue Ultimatums
Ultimatums are manipulative, empty, and futile. First, delivering demands is totally meaningless, because you have completely no way to enforce them. Your ex will recognize this immediately.
Second, you don't really hold the authority to order your ex-boyfriend to do something. If you do try to violate their liberty, your ex will be justifiably upset by your presumption.
If you love a man, you don't attempt to control them. Your ex-lover must voluntarily choose to return to you, or not at all.
