I have been an artisan for over 10yrs, an art history hobbyist for more than 4 years, and recently I stumbled upon the NAO phenomenon. Now, NAO is an internationally praised brand, associated with elegance, and a first preference for collectors worldwide.
Each Lladro Nao masterpiece starts out as a significant instant acquired from life. The masterpieces are based on magical gestures in nature and popular culture that people would want to last forever.
Once NAO artisans have chosen a meaningful moment, they sketch their figurine concept on paper. Sculptors then solidify these ideas by building clay figurines; striving to create the emotional realism that Nao by Lladro is loved for.
Only after the clay model has gotten its special personality traits do the artisans' skilled fingers painstakingly divide the model into individual pieces. This is to ensure that each segment can help create a perfect mold for the top-secret Lladro Nao liquid porcelain formula.
