Static Caravan Insurance - Is It Time To Change Providers?

Have you been with the same insurance company for a number of years now? If so, then perhaps it's time to consider making a change. Many people tend to get stuck in a so called 'comfort zone', and as a result, they tend to steer clear of change.

Perhaps it's because they've convinced themselves there's no real need to change in the first place. Let's face it, thousands and thousands of people stick with the same service providers' year in and year out, even when they're aware of the fact that they could be getting a better deal elsewhere.

Changing Your Current Caravan Insurance Policy:

Contrary to what you may believe, finding a new provider for your static caravan insurance doesn't need to be a daunting task. In fact, you wouldn't believe just how straightforward it can be. Unfortunately, many caravan owners tend to be overly concerned regarding possible paperwork, while others are worried in case they'll be without cover for a period of time if they switch to a different company. As any broker can attest to, making the change to a different provider is not only a straight forward task, but if you're working through a broker, the broker will for the most part do everything on your behalf.

What You Will Need To Do:

1) First and foremost, you'll need to do a little bit of research, bearing in mind that there's no immediate urgency for you to commit yourself. This is a time during which you can evaluate the various policies on offer.

2) Comparing quotes will also be your responsibility, and as such, you need to bear in mind that you shouldn't automatically opt for the cheapest policy available. The level of cover you receive is of far more importance than price alone. Of course if the cheapest policy also includes everything you need, then by all means go ahead and accept it. The important thing is that you need to know you'll be fully covered in all eventualities, and you also need to have peace of mind in knowing that the contents of your caravan will be covered as well, rather than only the caravan itself.

3) Once you're satisfied that you've had ample time to read through the various policies, you can then consider instructing your broker to proceed. In order to safeguard yourself, it's worth mentioning that you should only consider a broker who is regulated by the FSA (Financial Services Authority). Providing you use such a broker, you can be sure to receive advice which is impartial. Once you've instructed your broker to go ahead, he or she will then begin preparing all the necessary paperwork.

4) Ideally, you need to try and ensure that there is no time lapse between your old policy and your new one. In other words, your new static caravan insurance policy should come into effect prior to your existing one expiring. This means that there won't be any period during which you're caravan is unprotected.

Finding a reputable broker is also incredibly easy nowadays. For example, you can simply go online in order to find one, and when you do, you'll also be able to do some research in order to establish whether or not they have a good reputation. Considering just how much a caravan costs nowadays, it only makes sense that you'll want to leave your static caravan insurance needs in the hands of a competent broker, and as such, one should never be tempted to rush into things head-first.
