subject: Bad Wedding Themes [print this page] All young couples want to make their wedding ceremony special and unique. This desire leads some of them to plan a theme for the event. Sometimes, this is a good idea. Sometimes its a bad idea. Below are several wedding themes that demonstrate what not to do.
Hunting/Redneck Wedding
Both bride and groom like camping with a big tent, stalking prey in turkey blinds, and their camouflage. They should have a close relationship and entertaining life together enjoying their favorite pastime. But, there is a relevant environment for such items. The wedding event should never include rifles or scopes. In 30 years, will you truly want to tell your future generations why Grammy was sporting waders to get hitched? Your wedding event ought to be wondrous and lovely. Keep the roughing it for the honeymoon.
Vampire Wedding
Myriad women, and a few men, find recent depictions of vampires sexy and romantic. While you may be part of this crowd, there are just too many reasons not to include your love of bloodsuckers in your wedding. For beginners, it has been done to death (pun intended). Vampires are all over the place in our time, so that kind of theme really wont make your wedding unique. Second, it means corpses. In recent releases, the film sector has idealized many a vampires long-lasting devotion. But these creatures also kill to feed. Nary a thing says passion like a dead body.
Clown Wedding
Unless you are fifth generation in a clowning family and you are about to take to the road with a top circus, omit the face-paint and water-squirting flower. This wedding theme really is not as humorous as you think it will be.
Foodie Wedding
Food-loving pairs endeavor to include how they met into the wedding. However, if you and your honey met at a drive-thru restaurant, omit this idea. Do you actually want your wedding garments to exude the smell of deep-fry grease?
Medieval/Pirate Wedding
You can find lots of romance stories set in the medieval period, or a sword-wielding, swashbuckling tale, but in truth, neither of those periods were romantic. Women were beaten and raped, most men toiled even more hours a day than in our time, and personal hygiene was unheard of. If you omit the unsavory parts and just include the romantic aspects of the period, it just seems sappy, and I dont know of anybody that wants that for their wedding event.
Cartoon Wedding
If you actually manage to railroad your invitees to get suited up as cartoon characters, they might hate you for many years. Who wants to initiate their future with the ushers and maid of honor swearing at them from beneath the big foam head?
Geek Wedding
This category includes any outer space wars or treks, or related animated theme from the palette of science fiction. Even if both of the parties love this option, the truth is, many of your guests probably prefer to be less geeky. Because of this, they arent party to your inside jokes and probably wont like the weirder costumes. Rather than being a celebration of geek love, your important day will merely be a big, confusing mess. Instead, plan a less unusual wedding, and share a Star Trek movie session as part of your honeymoon.
Naked Wedding
N.O. Just no. Always a bad choice. Dont forget that although you wish your wedding to be extraordinary, you need to consider your guests. Pick a theme that all can live with.
