Lady A is currently on the road with country music mainstay Tim McGraw on his Southern Voice Tour and has opened for country artists like Keith Urban and Martina McBride in the past.
Lady A's Hillary Scott recently told The Boot, "One of the things we've seen from artists is that they give it their all every night. The other thing is that they take care of their people. We've been out on some great tours where they take care of everyone from the opener to the guitar tech."
Hillary's bandmates Dave Haywood and Charles Kelley agree, with Kelley recalling one of his lasting memories from touring with Tim McGraw: "He made fun of me not playing basketball with him, he busted me pretty hard about hat. He has this tradition of giving one of his shirts to his opening act. We thought he was joking but his wardrobe assistant said it's something he does all the time. Sure enough, one day he brought Dave and I a shirt." Everyone knows that Lady A's touring mate is a down-to-earth country star, but who knew he gives opening acts the shirt of his back!
Perhaps Lady A will carry on the tradition when the trio kicks off their 35-date Need You Now headlining tour, which begins as they are finishing up their dates with McGraw. Lady A play their final date supporting McGraw in Toronto, Ontario on Aug. 7 and begin playing solo shows in mid-July, with David Nail opening for the group.
Fans can get Lady Antebellum tickets to see the group play in North American cities like Lewisburg, W.Va.; Harrington, Del.; Greenville, Ohio; Jonesboro, Ark.; Louisville, Ky.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Augusta, Ga. and more online. Lady A has already set a record for selling out a show in Augusta on June 18; tickets for the gig at the 9,000-seat James Brown Arena sold out in just seven minutes!
Lady A's Dave Haywood told The Boot that the country trio is hoping to recruit fans from outside the country community on their headlining tour, saying, "When we set out to do this we wanted to be in country music. It's been exciting for us that other outlets have played Need You Now. The way we look at it is if we can bring more fans to country music, that's great. I think country music is the best music in the world. It's the most diverse range of authentic and real artists out there. If we can bring people all over the world into this genre then they can learn about these artists and that's a win for us."
Lady Antebellum's Need You Now is the best-selling country album of the year thus far, reports The Boot. The former Billboard 200 chart topper has yielded a pair of No. 1 country hits-"Need You Now" and "American Honey"-and the trio's latest single, "Our Kind of Love," is currently climbing the charts.
