subject: Five Tips For Choosing A Theme For Your Wedding [print this page]

A themed wedding is a great way to ensure that everyone who attends will always remember it. It takes creativity and a flair for the unique to create a truly interesting theme for your wedding that will stand out from the rest of the every day weddings that take place by the thousands every day. In North America alone there are 15000 wedding everyday averaged over a year. Make yours different from all of them. While you are at it, consider giving your guests photo album wedding favors and wedding cameras as gifts so that they can capture your unique wedding for themselves. If you are lucky, someone will capture that perfect shot that your wedding photographer misses and share it with you.

The first thing you want to do when creating a theme for your wedding is to put your heads together. Include as many people as you can to come up with a wide variety of ideas for a great theme. Two heads are better than one and many heads are better than two when it comes to generating multiple creative ideas. You may want to record your sessions so that you can review these great minds coming together so that you do not miss anything and because they are great fun to watch years later.

Once you come up with a set goal for your theme and you know exactly what you want, compare your ideas with your budget and see how much change will be involved. If you have to change too much to stay within a budget, it may not be the best theme for you. This is another important reason to include your close friends and family in the theme of your wedding. Many of them may have great money saving ideas and talents that they can lend to make your dream a reality. For instance, it may be cheaper to make some of the costumes or decorations that you will need to embolden your theme as opposed to renting or buying. It is worth checking into to see if anyone in your brainstorming group has the talent it tales as a tailor for the task if you do not possess the skills yourself.

Color has a lot to do with a great theme. In fact, your theme may just be a color scheme that you want to employ for your big day. If this is the case, you may want to consider having the wedding in a home or other facility that would allow you to use paints and small construction changes that really bring your theme to life. Some wedding halls may also allow you to paint the walls and add minor adjustments to the hall either if you agree to change it back or if it is a color scheme that they like. It gives them a free paint job and gives you a great backdrop for your wedding theme.

Your theme is not complete unless you have the food to match. If you are having a summer or garden theme, serving chicken or beef is great but why not go with summer food like barbeque or a summer vegetable menu that matches the affair's theme. An Italian themed wedding would call for pastas, lasagna, and spaghetti. The kind of food you serve really drives your theme home. Have an open bar that serves drinks that reflect your theme. this is also a great touch and will add to the authenticity of the wedding and reception theme.

Finally, ask your guests if they can add to the flavor of your wedding theme. You have hundreds of guests at your disposal. In the invitations, tell them what theme you are contemplating and ask them to submit ideas that will make your theme better. You may be surprised at the creative ideas and offers to help that you will receive. Some of your guests may even have items to loan as decorations. Any way you go, the more help you can get, the better, and less expensive your themed wedding will be.
