Beauty will dance her way into the heart of Beast in the classic Disney tale "Beauty and the Beast" at the Old Town Temecula Theater today through Sunday. Performed by Svetlana's Dance Academy and the Inland Valley Classical Ballet Theater, the original ballet will be set to a mix of well-known classical composers. All the characters from the movie will almost make an appearance, including Cogsworth and Lumiere, Gaston and Le Fou, among others. The part of Belle will be performed by senior student Alexus Hill; the Beast will be played by Vitaliy Nechay, a principal dancer with California Ballet. George Ortiz will play the part of Gaston. In this fall The Broadway musicals "Beauty and the Beast" will perform in Honolulu , on Tuesday city officials announced that the well know Disney tale "Beauty and the Beast" will run from Sept. 21 to Oct. 3 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall.
The wonderful classic French fairy tale Beauty and the Beast is given the full-blown Disney treatment in this adaptation of their own 1991 animated film. Whereas retaining many of the elements that gave the movie its own particular charm, this version runs a bit too long and leisurely for the tastes, being padded out with additional, and mostly forgettable songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, some of which were cut from the movie. There is no denying the appeal of this material and the large contingent of families in attendance on a muggy night at the Muny all seemed to be having a great time with this tempting and fun production that kicks off their 2010 season. The wonderful Disney tale Beauty and the Beast continues through June 30, 2010 at the Muny in Forest Park.
The Cary Ballet Conservatory performed their amazing Beauty and the Beast performance to delighted crowds with a total of 5 shows. In the performance there are Thirty separate dance acts were featured at each performance including ballet, jazz and tap in the seasons culmination. This was the Conservatorys third Beauty and the Beast production. The production featured all but the very youngest, who perform a separate recital. There is no doubt that turning a fairy tale into reality is not so easy, especially when the Beast must be changed through makeup, not magic. But that will happen throughout this weekend as Theatre Works presents Beauty and the Beast.Once I put the mask on, I turn into a totally different person, said Brandon Martin, who plays the Beast. The costume adds to the character a lot, he added. In the play, Martin is cursed and turns into a beast. When a beautiful woman falls in love with him, the spell is broken and he turns back into a handsome prince. The performances are being held at the Walker Fine Arts Building at Patrick Henry Community College.
