Texas holdem poker often starts the game with the two players to the left of the dealer, placing a fixed amount of money into the pot before any cards are dealt. This is to ensure that theres something to play for on every hand, also called posting the blinds. Every player is dealt with hole cards or the first two cards, given face down. After a round of betting took place which is also called the preflop, players have the option to call, raise or fold when it is their turn to bet.

After the first betting round ends, the dealer will then discard the top of the card deck, which is called burning the card. This is done in order to assure that no one has seen the top card by accident as well as to prevent cheating. The flop or the three cards which the dealer flips face up on the table can be used by anyone in combination with their two hole cards in order to form a poker hand.

There will be another round of betting, again starting off with the player to the left of the dealer, after which, the dealer will burn another card and flips one more onto the table or also called the turn card. The players can make use of this sixth card in order to make a five card poker hand. Another round of betting will take place, but this time the bet size will double, after the dealer burn the card and puts the last card face up on the table, called the river, players can now use any of these five cards combined with their hole cards in order to form a five card poker hand.

In Texas holdem poker rules, all the players who remain in the game will reveal their hands right after the last betting round took place. The player who presented the best hand wins!
