But if you are Harry Brown where he is in a situation where his wife just died because of sickness, and his best friend got murdered, vengeance is the only thing that you can think about. This guy has nothing to lose. He has no one left but all by himself. For him, taking the law into his own hands is the only way to restore peace in his town.
Harry Brown is a movie about a widowed Northern Ireland veteran living on an Elephant and Castle housing estate that is rapidly descending into youth crime. Eventually Harry takes up violent methods to curb crime after a friend is murdered. The movie for me is cool. I know the actor is not the typical action superstar that we all imagine like Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise. The movie is kind of similar to "Taken by Liam Nieson" where the hero is a bad ass and not the typical good guy who will capture the bad guys and hand them over to the police. Harry Brown does not believe that the police can help him. He believes that the only way to make the people safe is by eliminating the people who is responsible for his best friend's death.
On the first part of the movie, Harry Brown, who is by the way played by Michael Caine, was just a quiet citizen who doesn't want to be involve in any crime scenes being committed by the gangsters living in their area. He actually cut through a public underpass which is a gathering spot at all hours by local thugs and gang members in order for visit her sick wife in the hospital. His only friend Leonard, who he plays chess with, was murdered in his house when he was trying to find out who has put burning dog faces through his letterbox. Since the police can't do anything about it, it was time that Harry unleashed his rage against the gangs who is spreading violence in their town.
If you're the type who watches action movies, this one is recommended. Harry Brown showed no mercy while killing the people who are behind his best friends death, and that is what will make you watch this movie. Imagine an old guy kicking some gangsters ass. I admit, when I saw the poster, I thought it was going to be a boring movie. I was wrong for the second time (the first time was the movie Taken). There should be more movies like this so that action movies will not be boring.
