subject: Buying A Used Suzuki Sx4 [print this page]

The Suzuki SX4 was designed primarily for the European market. Because it was so popular it was quickly introduced into, Japan, India, Indonesia, China, South America, Australia, South Africa and North America. In all these countries it has become one of the top selling cars. The car is flexible, roomy, fun and cheap to buy and maintain, hence its popularity. Its good looks seem to appeal to all age groups and all nationalities.

To start with, the main appeal was the price, no other all wheel drive car even came close to its low price in any of the counties that it was launched in. Over time it became more sought after for its durability, dependability and relatively low servicing costs. Added to this it looks good and is fun to drive. The SX4 also has plenty of space for passengers, so is very comfortable. Tall passengers in particular appreciate the high level of legroom that this car has. Boot space is generous, with over 14 cubic feet of space.

The only downside for Suzuki SX4 owners is its relatively poor fuel economy. Most models only average 30mpg. In addition there is no boot release on the key fob and the back seats can not be folded down or taken out. Most owners feel that the ride quality and acceleration you get makes the poor fuel economy a price worth paying. The 2 litre engine produces 142 brake horsepower adding to the cars sporty feel. The quality of the finish is high, especially for the SX4 Sport, which comes with alloy wheels and air conditioning as standard.

Buying a 2nd hand SX4 is a good idea, to date there have been no serious issues with this car. The only thing that you should pay specific attention when buying a 2nd hand SX4 to is the electrical systems in the car. In particular pay attention to the air-bag system for the front passenger, owners are starting to report intermittent problems with this system.
