subject: Bentota Where Man Finds Heaven On Earth [print this page]

A salty, windy drive along the South Western coastal belt of Sri Lanka will bring you to Bentota. The waves that lap onto the sunny stretch of sand will hold you in a trance and call you to follow them into the ocean. It is undeniably among the best beaches in Sri Lanka and possibly the world.

Occasionally sheltered by a palm or coconut tree, the seashore extends for miles with plenty of space to sun bathe, build sand castles or play a game of beach volleyball. The waters are choppy but famous for water skiing, windsurfing, diving, snorkeling, canoeing, jet skiing and tube- riding. Several sports centres and schools have been established in the vicinity to help visitors with their sea adventures. The local fisher folk will even help you find a good place for deep sea fishing.

The boat rides into the depths of the sea are almost as exciting as the cruises down the Bentota River. The journey upstream begins at the lagoon. A striking bit of land is sandwiched handsomely on one side by the celebrated waters of the Bentota Sea and on the other by the awkwardly twisted Bentota River. Hop into a little boat manned by the ever-smiling inhabitants of the area to traverse right into a world of exotic fauna and flora. Kingfishers, herons and aquatic birds add colour to the skies while crocodiles and monitors add an extra thrill to the calm waters. Mangroves grow along the bank and on droplets of land in the river itself.

Go for a sunny spin that you will never forget. Getting to and from Bentota is never a problem as there are a number of Sri Lanka travel arrangements to choose from. Sri Lanka car rental facilities make it all the more convenient for tourists to explore and enjoy the country as they wish. One can keep in mind Malkey Rent A Car, a locally trusted and acclaimed service provider.
