If you buy a bar that is only fit for lifting standard weight sizes, you run the possibility of it breaking or bending while you are lifting, which could potentially be dangerous. For this reason, you must buy something that can handle Olympic weights.
Also when looking for weights, be sure that you get a plate tree along with it. You may find that the amount of weights that you collect start piling up, and having a weight tree makes it easy way to keep them organized and readily available.
