subject: Functional And Professional: The Business Meeting Room [print this page]

There are many things to consider when planning your office space for your employees and clients. Keeping a functional and professional look is important to many business owners, but creating a unique feel can set one business apart from another. So once you have sorted out your premises, business energy plan, and buildings insurance, it is time to start thinking about how the interior of your office will look.

It is common to have a couple of boardrooms for high profile meetings as well as smaller rooms for more informal meetings. Whichever room is used, they must give the client a good impression of your business and this can be achieved by paying attention to detail in the rooms.

The boardroom

Boardrooms generally benefit from having a rectangular table which enables the person in authority to head up the table with other employees and clients around the table. This elegant style of table begs for comfortable chairs, preferably with wheels. Modern lighting can add to a room as can television screens which portray your business as moving with the times. Tea, coffee and water facilities are necessary in any office.

Smaller meeting rooms

Smaller meeting rooms need a different approach to boardrooms. A round table is generally more suitable as these are more practical and informal. It can also lend itself to how you are going to use the room which may be speaking to clients and colleagues more directly rather than passively watching a speaker doing a presentation. You don't want to strip it of everything, television screens and telephone call facilities are useful in any office environment. Modern lighting and tea and coffee making facilities are just as important and the proximity of the nearest toilets must also be taken into account.
