subject: Serverhosting The Solution For E-business [print this page]

Therefore, you need to increase the yields and reduce the costs.

When it comes to costs on the side of affiliate marketing portfolio owners, one of the highest cost items is the costs of the webhosting. In the Czech Republic, it is rather impossible to purchase multihosting (i.e. an option to operate several domains under one account), and webhosting for affiliate marketers is pretty costly.

Not long ago, I was searching for a webhosting for Wordpress websites where you need databases, too. The cheapest hosting, offering in basic rate just PHP + MySQL, including the administration and other standard functions, was amounting some CZK 89 a month without VAT. It means CZK 1068 per year, which is, in case of mini-sites or affiliate websites that produce several hundreds crowns per month (if you are lucky, of course) more than a lot of money.

Unless you decide to purchase a multihosting program provided by foreign companies, such as Hostmonster, Dreamhost or GoDaddy, you need to find another solution.

Fortunately, there is a solution. It is called the serverhosting. You simply hire the whole server, and you have the space for some 200 websites running on Wordpress without a problem. So you pay for the serverhosting approximately 2 3 thousand crowns a month, that is - in monthly costs - some 20 30 crowns per one website, which is quite affordable.

Therefore, if you need to operate a network of affiliated websites, I do recommend serverhosting because it will save you a lot of money. In addition, you will have a chance to administer all your websites from the same account.

Is managed hosting worth your money?

I have had some experience with the quality of webhosting and serverhosting services and - unfortunately - the experience is not very positive.

When I was operating websites that offered online games, I had to face a webhosting problem. I was simply unable to persuade my webhosting provider to allow me htaccess editing. I was told that it was impossible for security reasons. I was pretty upset at that time as I paid nearly CZK 300 a month and, at that price, one would expect that basic things should work.

In the end, I said goodbye to the webhosting provider, spent some time on research, looked at what webhosting companies offered in terms of virtual private server - and decided to purchase my own server and use the managed hosting. My server is able to run smoothly 100 smaller projects and 2 bigger ones (online games and videos). The solution is rather expensive but I am really happy with it. I do not have to waste my time in solving problems, I have my own administrator who takes care of my server, update installations and security upgrades, and - in cooperation with my computer programmer - I can develop my primary business i.e. add new functions and create the content of quality.

For me, the managed hosting is profitable because the projects that I run are somehow profitable and, as they are many, the costs of the managed server fall down to affordable level. The safe technical background is worth the money.
