It Wouldn't Be Christmas

This year Christmas is almost bare due to the finances but there are certain things that will make it Christmas and that's what we need to focus on which starts with family and as long as they are together that's the most important thing.

There are so many families who are not together this year and yet families continue to try to make a little Christmas for those who are there to celebrate and that is usually the children who are so easy to please with little presents and just sitting down to eat anything as a family. It wouldn't be Christmas without the children.

The next thing we do that is important to us is practice our religion by going to our church on Sundays and on Christmas Mass Midnight Service and doing it as a family as Christmas is family time. Another important part is giving the best we can and Christmas is giving, but this year money is not there to give like we use to, so we find something else to give and we make those Christmas memories new ones and possibly some new traditions may come out of them during this joyful time. Christmas is a celebration and a time to keep in touch with all those who don't live close to the family anymore.

Even though there is a child overseas, we can make Christmas a happy time and enjoy it to the fullest because we had a phone call from our missing family member and now we are celebrating the holiday with the family and the spirit of the missing member with us. Christmas is so rich and rewarding this year even though presents are few we learn that Christmas is not just the presents we receive but the love and togetherness of a family and this makes Christmas a joyful time remembering that we're celebrating Christ's birth.
It Wouldn't Be Christmas

Start planning now for Christmas next year by watching sales and clearance items and if they fit someone in the family for a gift, buy it, wrap it and put it away until next Christmas. By next Christmas you'll have all the shopping done and presents for all the family just because you started early and by doing it this way you can afford what you couldn't afford this year because you didn't have the money to spend all at once. A little at a time will make for a giving Christmas and the family will definitely notice the difference from this year, but you don't have to explain anything to anyone about how you were able to do it.

If it's going to be a family Christmas at your home, again, start now planning for the dinner next year including how the table will be set up what kind of meal you plan to have, maybe a buffet next year with different food than turkey or ham. Having a year to plan everything and get some of the things needed will make it a lot easier in the planning and putting it all together so that the work is minimal and time with the family is maximized.
