Asbestos And Personal Injury Compensation

Thanks to a new review, victims of asbestos exposure could received additional compensation. The trustees of the compensation fund, set up by the industrial giant Turner & Newall Group, have decided to release hundreds of thousands of pounds for further personal injury compensation.

One solicitor who represented claimants remarked, We are delighted with this news, it will mean Turner & Newall claimants who have received payouts already will get another 10p or 39p in the pound dependent upon when they worked for the firm. The scheme is slightly complex but we will be contacting all existing clients as soon as possible to explain exactly how much extra they will receive. New claimants will receive up to 100p in the pound for their claims, if they started working for Turners after 1972 and 27p in the pound if they finished working there before 1972. Those who worked there both before and after 1972 will receive a figure between the two amounts.

One claimant, 62 year old Pat Davison, was pleased to hear that she would receive 16,000 in addition to the 18,760 that she had already received. Mrs Davisons mother contracted mesothelioma, the asbestos related cancer, as a result of washing her husbands overalls.

I remember being a young girl and dad coming home with his blue overalls virtually white because they were covered in asbestos dust. Mum was 98 when she died but it was a horrible death. Im glad for her sake that the trustees of the scheme have released this extra money. She and Dad would have wanted justice to have been served and now thats happening.

If you have suffered from asbestos exposure, you should not hesitate to contact a solicitor straight away, as there are time limits to making a claim.
