subject: Is Your Low Fat Diet To Blame For Your Lack Of Fat Loss? [print this page]

Are low fat diets a healthy way to lose weight? Logically it sounds good right? Eat less fat and you won't get fat. But that's just not how our bodies work. Eating a low fat diet can actually make you gain more fat and makes it especially hard to burn it off your body.

One of the reasons you'll gain weight on a low fat diet is because the food you'll probably be eating is all the stuff you can find at the grocery store labeled "low-fat." This is just a marketing gimmick, so don't fall for it! Low-fat foods are usually very processed and loaded up with extra carbs and salt to make it taste somewhat like it's normal counterpart.

All these extra processed carbs can spike your insulin levels and cause your body to gain fat. Plus it will increase your cravings of refined carbs, which makes it even harder to lose weight. Not what you were going for right?

Another reason a low fat diet is bad for you is because you're effectively limiting one of the essential macro-nutrients that your body needs to function effeciently. This can throw off your hormone levels and make fat loss and even muscle gain almost impossible for your body.

Instead of settling on some fad diet, the solution is to eat healthy fats. Like I said before, your body needs fat to work properly. But not just any fat, it needs natural fats that are healthy and not detrimental. It's a very good idea to limit processed fats that you find in margarine and hydrogenated oils.

But you should be eating foods like nuts, avocadoes, olive oil, pretty much any naturally fatty food. These are all very healthy and will help, instead of hinder, your weight loss efforts.
