subject: Ways To Cut Down On Wedding Expenses [print this page]

As any bride would know, their wedding is probably the biggest event that they will be planning in their lives. Many people are willing to spend large sums for their dream wedding. If you are not as lucky, or you simply don't want to spend so much, there are numbers of ways for you to cut down your expenses and still have the wedding of your dreams.

There is no doubt that your wedding day is going to be one of the most celebrated and the biggest event you will be planning in your life. Couples exert a great deal of effort and money on the preparations - from the engagement party, to all the big and tiny details of the wedding, to the honeymoon.

Planning and making your preparations ahead will allow you to save on costs as suppliers and contractors are willing to give discounts if you book and pay deposit ahead of time. It will also give you enough time to find wedding photographers and caterers who will be willing to give you a lower price.

Since weddings became popular, the wedding dress is one of the most important items in the list. Some brides would spend thousands just to have the most beautiful designer wedding dress and shoes. Alternatively, you can go to second hand stores and look for the perfect wedding dress that would cost much less. These stores have standards in accepting second hand dresses and since they are likely to be worn once, they would be in good condition when you find them.

You can also borrow from your family and friends. If you are not required to return it, you can take the dress to an alteration shop and have it redesigned or altered according to the size of your body and your taste. For less, you can have a beautiful dress that looks new.

Flowers can be very expensive. Instead of using imported flowers, you can use flowers that are in season and are abundantly available in your locality. You can contact your florist or a flower farm in your area and buy the flowers in bulk. If you haggle, you may be able to get a discount on the flowers and arrangements. Purchasing it locally will not only be cheaper but it can guarantee the flowers' freshness.

Twinkling lights and balloons are perfect addition to flowers. You can use Christmas lights especially if you are going to have the celebration outdoors. You can have them strewn in trees and plants. Colored lights will make the event more festive and clear lights will make it more traditional. Tulle is also perfect with the crystal lights and they are available in your local fabric store.

Together with a few flowers, you can use candles for table centerpieces. Cheap candles that can be bought from the dollar store will give the same romantic effect as the expensive candles would, although they tend to burn out faster.

The location will likely take a big chunk of your budget. For this reason, it is a good idea to have it in your backyard. If you don't have a backyard, you can have it in your family's or friends' backyard. The lights, balloons, flowers, candles, and tulle will transform your lowly backyard into a magical place where you will be celebrating the most wonderful day of your life.
