subject: The Starts And Stops Of Weight Loss [print this page] I'm a 29 year old male that weighs around 185 pounds. At my most, I've weighed about 200-205 pounds. I was feeling sick and tired of being over weight and I wanted to do something about it. I'm not sure how I heard of it or what prompted me to try it, but I ordered that Nutrisystem diet product. Along with the change in diet I started going to the gym a couple times a week with my brother.
I was highly anticipating the Nutrisystem food and getting started with it. It eventually got delivered in a big huge box. It had a month's worth of food in it, so it was a really large box. The way that this diet system worked is that they gave you a set amount of food you could eat for certain meals of the day. For instance, you started out with breakfast, which included a Nutrisystem breakfast item, a dairy item, a fruit item and a carb item. I would usually have a Nutrisystem muffin or cereal, a Yoplait yogurt, a banana and a piece of toasted wheat toast with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray on it. Sure it wasn't the most amazing meal, but it tasted decent and filled me up for awhile.
I also had to drink a ton of water on this diet. They usually have you drinking 6-7 cups of water or more each day, depending on your gender, weight and age. At first it's pretty hard because you are still hungry all of the time. I was used to eating 3 meals a day and when I ate lunch and dinner, I usually gorged. This is the problem, your body gets used to big meals and increases the size of your stomach. So when you eat the proper servings, at first you stay hungry. The water helps take care of some of the hunger, but it just takes a couple weeks before you get used to it.
Another weird side effect is gas. The Nutrisystem food has a lot of fiber in it, so be prepared to have a lot of gas for a month or so until your body gets used to it. It doesn't smell too bad, so don't be too afraid of being around people while being on Nutrisystem.
The one bad thing about Nutrisystem is that it costs about $300 a month. That's a big price tag, considering you still have to buy a lot of snacks for in between means. This is the reason why I have quit Nutrisystem several times now. The price is so high, I use it for 1-2 months, lost 15-20 pounds and then quit. I then slowly gain weight again and have to start the process all over again.
The trick is losing the weight and keeping it off. I start to really miss normal food after a couple months and I almost always fall back into my normal habits. If you can figure out how to lose the weight and keep it off then you will be ably to live a healthy lifestyle and increase your quality of life.
