subject: Experience The Beauty And Splendor Of Nature [print this page]

Full of national parks and great outdoor areas, the United States is wonderful for outdoor excursions. Spotting wildlife and melting s'mores over a campfire are only two of the great things you can do. At campsites around the US you'll find that nature is completely open to you. Mother Nature is completely equipped to cater to your sense of adventure.

Backpacking and adventure magazines are a great source for ideas and reviews of common camping spots. For tried and true camping trips you can always depend on the the many US national parks. From the Olympic National Park on the Pacific to the Great Smoky Mountains in the east, you can see amazing beauty from coast to coast. Beyond the big-name parks you'll find that there are lots of one-of-a-kind opportunities waiting. If you want to see another amazing canyon besides the Grand, try the Forty Mile Canyon in Utah. The hike is challenging but doable as you wander among the trees and travel along Forty Mile Creek. When you need a little cooling down, you can jump into the pool beneath the 12-foot waterfall or try out some of the other glistening pools.

Beyond the tall buildings of the cities, the San Gorgonio Mountain in California presents a spectacular view. On this popular Southern California trail you can hike up 11,000 feet over the sprawling multi-ecozone perch. There you can see undisturbed views of the clouds and sky and look down into the deserts and trees below. Across in the east, spots in the Appalachian Mountains in Tennessee and the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina also provide spectacular views.

There are also many suitable camping areas for trekkers with specialized interests. For the brave ones who care to skinny-dip, Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan is a great spot. In the cool, clear freshwater of Lake Superior you can admire the pink and orange sky of sunset surrounded by the pines and hardwoods. For optimal stargazing away from the concrete and smog of the city, a great place to camp is Mount Wrightson Wilderness in Arizona. Known as Old Baldy to the locals, you can see the sky in a brand knew way from this bare peak. The Hawaiian islands are another hotspot to find plenty of exciting opportunities for excursions.

From sunbathing and swimming to eating and drinking, campsites offer some of the best entertainment around. With friends or family or even a few strangers, you'll have plenty of fun whatever you choose to do. From coast to coast, there's plenty of adventure waiting for you.
