subject: 10 Things to Consider when choosing a Wedding Location! [print this page]

How formal will your wedding be? A sit-down dinner with multiple courses will be considered a formal reception. A wedding lunch is often casual and you have options like teas and buffets also.

What type of atmosphere do you like? If deep down you find the Banquet Hall just not your style, scratch it off your list and move on. There are tons of places to choose.

How many guests will you have? The fewer the guests you plan to have, the more eccentric the location.

Fees! What is the basic cost for the space? How & when is payment made? What are the extras and overtime charges?

Privacy! Will there be another event scheduled at the same time? If so, can it be kept apart from your wedding?

Hours! How much time is included in the rental, including setup and take down? Is cleanup included?

Restrictions! What's not allowed? Do they allow smoking and pets? I had a bride that wanted her pug to be part of the wedding, so she needed to take that into consideration with her location.

Facilities! Is there a kitchen? Must you use the on-site caterer? Are tables, chairs and linens included? What other items must you rent? Do they have a liquor license? Is there a space for the bride and groom to change and/or relax? Are they wheelchair accessible?

Staff! What personnel are included in the rental fee? Who will be on-site? Will restrooms be tidy, security be available?

Policy! What's the cancellation policy? Just in case!
