Ciphe Highlights Need For Plumber Insurance Following Firm Administration

Tradespersons who have taken a plumbing training course have been urged to make sure the work they carry out is properly insured.

It was recently revealed that Irish financial institution Quinn Insurance has been forced into administration after the Financial Regulator expressed concerns about how it was being managed and its dangerous financial situation.

And the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) suggested the move could be detrimental to some people who have approved plumbing qualifications.

It stated that workers who think this does affect them should seek advice from its recommended broker Courtprice, while operations director at the body Kevin Wellman explained the need for plumbers to have relevant cover for their jobs.

"At no point do we want the general public to be disadvantaged if work undertaken is not covered by suitable insurance," he said.

CIPHE was founded in 1906 and is the professional body for the British plumbing and heating sector.
