subject: Maintenance Phase Of The HCG Diet [print this page] The maintenance phase of the hCG Diet often gets overlooked, and is sometimes viewed as not being as important as the first two phases. This is completely wrong!
Following this phase successfully should result in a resetting of the body weight set point and hypothalamus gland. This is the phase that resets metabolism to a high state. THIS IS IMPORTANT! Without completing this phase you run the risk of gaining back your weight when you start eating "normally" again.
To complete this phase, which lasts at least 21 days immediately following the last day of the second phase of the hCG Diet, you can eat a lot more food than you'll be used to while on the diet. Typically you'll want to triple you caloric intake, which would be around 1500 calories a day. There are, of course, exceptions to what you can eat, and they are as follows:
Eat a large breakfast.
Eat six times per day.
No sugar, dextrose, sucrose, honey, molasses, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, or any sweetener.
No artificial sweeteners, including aspartame, sucrolos, NutraSweet, Splenda, saccharin, etc. Stevia may still be used and is actually recommended.
No starch, including breads, pastas, any wheat product, white rice, potatoes, yams, etc.
No trans fats, including hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils.
Drink one-half to one gallon of pure spring water daily, ideally with coral calcium sachets.
Walk for one hour per day.
Eat at least two apples per day.
Eat at least one grapefruit per day.
Drink organic green tea in any quantities you desire.
Sleep seven to eight hours per night, ideally going to bed at approximately 10:00 p.m. and arising at 6:00 a.m.
Finish your dinner three and one-half hours before bedtime.
No nitrites.
Limit non-prescription and prescription drug use.
No fast food!
One important thing to remember is to continue to weight yourself daily! If you find that you've gained 2 pounds or more, do a steak day. Eat nothing for a day (drink plenty of water) and have a large steak for dinner. This should get you back to normal. Remember this is a 'maintenance' phase you should maintain your weight; you shouldn't lose or gain any weight.
