Many people want to know the easy ways to lose weight in order to become healthy, build their self-confidence and become more attractive, amongst other reasons.

These methods can be easy but they will take time.

Surely if you eat fewer calories than you burn off, you will lose weight?

Scientists say if you burn of 3600 calories, you will lose 1 pound of fat. This sounds like a lot of calories, and that's on top of what you burn on a daily basis anyway. So to break it down over time makes it more achievable. This means that if you're looking for how to lose weight quickly, you're going to be disappointed, because it will take time. A crash diet may do it quicker than other methods but still will take time.

Basal Metabolic Rate

Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR is what your body burns on a daily basis by just essentially being alive but without doing exercise, for example if you didn't get out of bed all day.

Calculate Your Activity Level

My old gym used to give a you a computer key thing that let you work out, by putting the key into each individual piece of equipment, how many calories you were burning off with the exercise you were doing. This will help you exercise to lose weight.

Another way of doing this is by getting a heart rate monitor that tells you how many calories you've burned by doing the exercise you've been doing.

Calorie Consumption

Take note of how many calories you are consuming a day. This should be as accurate as you can so that you know how much you should be burning off, on average each day, in order to lose weight.

With lots of different diet plans around on the Internet, you'll be able to find one to suit your own needs.

So if you are consuming more calories than you are burning off with your BMR and activities, you will gain weight.

How to lose weight is that you simply need to be burning more calories than you consume.

Introducing Changes

If you were to build a wall, you wouldn't get a load of bricks all already cemented together and push them up vertically and cement them in place would you?

You'd go to each brick and lay it in its correct position and cement each one individually, step by step.

You should take the same attitude when you want to lose weight. If you try to take on a lot of exercise at once you'll feel overwhelmed, you'll tire yourself out quickly and you'll get fed up and give up. Unless you've got awesome determination, in which case you're crazy! Because, whilst having awesome determination is no bad thing, taking on too much exercise at once can harm the body, the body needs to be conditioned.

You need to take it one step at a time and gradually introduce the changes in your life in order to lose weight.

For example, if you drive your children to school, why not walk if it's walking distance? Not only would this help you to lose weight by burning off extra calories but your children will get the exercise too. And if you already walk them to school, take a different route home and make it a slightly longer walk. An extra 10 minutes a day might not sound like a lot but that's 50 minutes a week during term time and 3 hours 20 minutes in a month.

Goal Setting

A way to keep you motivated is to set yourself goals. It's ok to set big goals for yourself as long as you have little goals in order to get there.

Set yourself small achievable goals and you will be surprised to see (or feel!) how great it feels to achieve these goals. And once you gain confidence in achieving the small goals, it will help you to see that you are working towards your overall goal.

One characteristic Left

Perseverance. If you persevere, in time you will lose weight. Don't be put off by seeing little or no change in the short term, as it may be unnoticeable changes that happen daily but if you check your progress monthly, you will see progress.

The easy way to lose weight is to enjoy exercising and changing your diet in the knowledge that it will make you lose weight. Once it becomes something that you want to do as opposed to have to do, it will become easy to get motivated.
