Researchers of the University of Geneva in Switzerland found in a study that men who had been given a combination of green tea extract and caffeine burned more calories than those who had been given only caffeine or a placebo. The only known negative effect is insomnia which is due to the caffeine content. However the caffeine content is much lower that that found in a cup of coffee.

A suggestions for people who want to lose weight is to drink at least one cup of green tea with each meal, but some Chinese homeopathic. doctors suggest to consume from 4 to 8 cups per day. The important thing to use it together with a good diet.

The Green Tea has many positive effects and should be included, but, you should also include in your diet many other good antioxidants such as tomatoes, green vegetables and fruits.

Recently many companies have started producing bottled green tea which often is seen as a replacement for iced drinks in summer. However it should be mentioned that the bottled version is not as healthy as the brewed version mainly because it contains a lower amount of polyphenols than brewed tea. According to some studies the levels of polyphenols and antioxidants are 10 to 100 times lower than those found in conventionally brewed tea.

To conclude Green Tea is surely a useful addition to a weight loss diet. However you will get better benefits by using brewed green tea rather than the commercial bottled versions. Drink green tea for weight loss and you will have also many other health benefits.
