subject: What's Blocking Your Weight Loss? [print this page] Are you overweight? Do you feel tired and sometimes "foggy" but no matter what you do the fat is still accumulating around your middle, and on your hips and thighs? Well it's not only about what goes in your mouth. It's also about what's going on deep inside your body.
It has been said that death begins in the colon. That's a very strong statement about the importance of colon health, but there's a lot of truth to it. The colon is where our body eliminates the waste from the foods we eat. Eliminating not just waste but all the excessive toxins in our food and environment that have filtered through the liver and made their way into the intestines. It's not difficult to see why a properly functioning digestive system is so important.
A clean colon makes sense, but what is all the talk about how we all are carrying pounds of "fecal matter" around in our intestines? Well, the proper name is mucoid plaque and a small amount of it is normal, as it protects us from toxic substances. It is one of our bodies wondrous defenses. The problem occurs when we are overloaded with toxins from our food and environment, then too much mucoid plaque is produced and is not naturally excreted but lodges in the folds and creases of the large intestine. This is the "build up" you read about. It blocks absorption of vital nutrients and provides a breeding ground for parasites and unwelcome, unfriendly bacteria. Time to be rid of it!
No one wants to think about having parasites, but most of us do. Some health authorities believe up to 95% of the North Americans are living with at least one form of parasite in their bodies! These organisms live off the host (you and me!) by feeding off our cells, the food we eat or even the supplements we take. Parasites survive and reproduce quickly and efficiently under the right circumstances and can enlarge the liver, invade the lungs, brain and skin and cause constant health problems. The awful little critters can enter our bodies through contaminated food, improperly washed fruits and vegetables or insufficiently cooked meats, but however they get there, they are not good news and need to be eliminated!
All this infestation by parasites and toxins is now known to be a huge factor in obesity. Our bodies hang on to the fat for dear life as a way to protect us from toxic build up. The fat is a place to store the overload of toxins that cannot be filtered and eliminated by the liver fast enough. Imagine how it would feel to be rid of all of this, glow with health and vitality and enjoy radiant health! Knowledge is power and now the power is in your hands.
