Planning A Late Summer Garden Party

Get all of your friends together to hang out in your garden and celebrate the beginning of harvest time season. Below are some great tips to planning an enjoyable Summer Garden. Party.

1. Food - Make a great salad that includes ingredients from your garden. Cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes are great additions! Your guests will love the fresh salad you have made. Food from the garden always tests better than store bought foods. Also consider grilling food so that your guests can hang outside in the garden. Grilled Corn is a great fresh treat that can also come from your garden. For desert consider making carrot cake that has fresh carrots from your garden. If you have a small fire pit as it gets dark make s'mores by the fireside. If possible set this up in your garden area.

2. Favors/Decorations - Give your guests a basket and let them select a few items from your garden to take home. People have a great time self picking items from a garden. Another great idea is to buy miniature pails, and grow grass in the pail ahead of time. Then attach a name onto a skewer and place it into the grass. This makes for a lovely table accessory and lets guests know where they should sit.

3. Games - Why not add a game to your outdoor garden party. A great game to play is guess the seed. Hot glue down several seeds onto a thick piece of paper. Then put a number next to each seed. Have guests figure out what seed belongs to what item from the Garden. Guest will have fun figuring out easy ones such as a sunflower seed or a pumpkin seeds. Harder seeds to figure out are radish and carrot seeds.

Hopefully the few tips above gave you some ideas on how to share the bounty of your garden with those you care about.
