subject: 5 Ideas For A Perfect Wedding On The Beach [print this page] Weddings are great times to show the true youWeddings are great times to show the true you. All your friends and family will be there, so it will already be a truly personal event. While some people go for generic weddings that look like everyone else"s", more and more people are opting for less traditional events that have their own flavor infused within. If you"re the type who loves to relax on the sand in the sun, then what better than a beach themed wedding?
Now, the most obvious way to throw a beach themed wedding is to have it on an actual beach. Getting married as the sun sets over the ocean is a truly romantic way to join in your union. If you aren"t anywhere near the beach, then consider any large lakes in your area. I live in Buffalo, NY- a city known for its snow and bad weather, and even we have a number of great beaches within a half hours" drive from the city. Get creative and you won"t need to spend an arm and a leg for the just-about-perfect location.
Beach weddings also have the added benefit of being more casual affairs. It"s hard to get married in a traditional long and delicate dress when you"re going to be walking on or near unpredictable sand and water. None of your guests will have to wear heels and fancy dress shoes, and you"ll have to cut back on the absurd floral arrangements that frequent too many weddings. Instead, you"ll have the perfect excuse for throwing a more low key even that is none the less still incredibly special and romantic.
One great area where you can really drive the theme home is your cake. If you have an idea, like having your cake look like a giant wave, sketch it out and see if your bakery can make it. A nice place to be a little silly with your cake is with the cake toppers. Having a bride and groom in surf gear will get at least a few chuckles out of your guests. You can take it one step further by having a themed cake serving set. You can have the plates and utensils all be Hawaiian or luau themed, or any other look that is appropriate for the setting.
You can follow up the ceremony with a great themed reception as well. Think about going all out with a pig roast and hula dancing, or you can keep it a little more low key with some simple foods and a couple bonfires. Once again it all depends on the kind of people you are. If you are the type to go to resorts a couple times a year, then go all out. If you"re a more relaxed couple who just enjoys the little things, then the environment itself will do most of the work for you, and all you need to do is show up and make sure everything is nice and simple.
Whichever direction you go, remember that a beach wedding is one of the most romantic ways you can celebrate your partnership and commit to your lover. Between the lapping waves, the soft sand and the amazing view, you"re guaranteed to have a memorable time. Just make sure you make some contingencies for the ever unpredictable weather and your special day will be as close to perfect as possible.
