subject: Dad, is Your Girl Using Ecstasy? [print this page]

Dad, there are a couple things you need to know and understand when it comes to your girl and the use of ecstasy. One of the most popular club drugs is ecstasy. It was around when I was caught up in the drug scene and really took off during the 90's as the rave parties came to America. Rave parties began in the late 80s with some promoters and DJ's in England. Raves became popular in America in the early 1990s and took place in dance clubs, warehouses, and outdoor gatherings. Making way for teenage drug abuse.

This was not the only place where this drug was being used but it became known much more at these parties and is still seen around the clubs and night scenes not to mention teenage parties.

If your girl is using this drug I thought it might be good to give you a little bit of information about the drug.

Ecstasy, or MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), is a pill or powder that creates a 4 - 6 hour mildly euphoric experience. What I know of the drug from first hand experience is that the effects of the drug gives people a common acceptance for and by others, diminished fear, and the increased ability to communicate. Teenage boys will give these drugs to girls for free since it gives them a much more likeability. It is a popular drug and can be found in many situations.

It has been reported that around 12% of teens in high school have tried the drug and anyone possessing over 15 doses of MDMA will serve around 4 years in prison. "Fake" Ecstasy pills sometimes include dangerous drugs such as DXM (dextromethorphan) and PMA (paramethoxyamphetamine), which are believed responsible for a number of "Ecstasy" overdoses.

Sometimes the best thing to do when you find out that your daughter has been using ecstasy is to find out which guy has been giving it to them. Once you find out who it is that is supplying your girl with this drug let his parents know what he is doing. If that falls on deaf ears take it to the authorities. The best solution to these situations is cut off the source. This is not everything you need to do but it is one of many to ensure you help your daughter succeed in getting clean.
