A discontented or painful state of mind is a common cause for food abuse. Food abuse includes eating too much to comfort yourself in a social situation or while alone, or eating too little as a means of control or avoidance when your life feels out of control. Somewhere you may have lost sight of Mother Nature's intent for food to nourish your body. She never intended her gifts of nourishment to numb you from life's experiences. Emotional eating happens when you use food to fill a void in your life or to numb yourself from feeling at all. Unconscious eating happens when you do not acknowledge the act of eating but continue to put food in your mouth even when you are not hungry.
Food is a substance thatcan be easilyabused. The remedy for this abuse is knowledge, accountability, and gratitude for the magnificent Life Force that permeates every cell of your body. It is your purposely-sought knowledge that will bring an awareness of the importance of good nutrition and care. You are the only one who can be accountable for keeping food in its proper perspective in your life. A mindset of accountability and gratitude will eliminate the urge to fill any perceived emotional void with food.
So, how do you attain this mindset? Choose a new method of thought! As you choose new thoughts, and new words that affirm your determination, a new spiritual and mental strength will emerge. When you purposely create an empowered state of mind at mealtime, and you will choose food with the intention of fueling the God-given Life Force in your body. This is what Mother Nature intended.
