subject: Don't Forget - The Wedding Is The Groom's Work Too! [print this page]

You are the groom, and about to be married to the most beautiful girl in the world, indeed the girl of your dreams. But don't think that all you have to do is turn up on the day in your best bib and tucker, say "I do," and then enjoy the honeymoon. No way. You, the groom, have responsibilities. And lots of them....and they need to be taken seriously.

Obviously, the most important is the choosing, and purchasing of the wedding rings. You wowed your girlfriend with a beautiful piece of jewelry as an engagement vow - but now the actual wedding rings need to be considered. This is normally a mutual decision, but the cost is certainly all the grooms. And once you have bought it, for goodness sake keep it safe.

But apart from the rings, the groom must also sort out the marriage license; the attire of the best man, and ushers, and all the trimmings; gifts for the bridesmaids, best man, and ushers; flowers for the bride, and both sets of mothers; the button-holes for the groom, the best man, and ushers; the fee for the wedding service; and of course the honeymoon costs. There will be other matters to consider too, and definitely other expenses, but these are the main areas the groom must address immediately if the wedding is to go smoothly, and he is not going to let his bride, or indeed himself, down.

There is however, one other very important aspect of the wedding that needs some serious thought, and that is transportation. Supplying the vehicle for the bride is the groom's privilege, and is not to be left to the last moment. In fact, transportation needs to be up there at the top of the list, as it may be that the groom will have to think about transport for the main guests of the family too.

However, it is the bride who comes first, and she will need a vehicle to arrive in to match the occasion. Just as the bride will be doing her best to look fantastic for her man, and indeed the occasion, so the groom must do his best to ensure the bride has all she needs to make her dream day everything it can be.

It is traditional for the groom not to see the dress the bride will be wearing before the wedding - however, it is essential the groom at least knows what color the dress will be as this will have a bearing on the color of the mode of transportation. For instance if the dress is going to be traditional white, then a white vehicle - maybe a stretch limousine for example - would normally be white too for the purposes of color coordination.

There are other vehicles one could choose, such as a vintage car, or horse-drawn carriage, or if the happy couple are into motorcycles, then it has been known for the bride to arrive on a Harley Davidson! The advantage of a stretch limo however, is that although it may only be the bride and her father arriving in a 14-seater Lincoln Town Car, at least there is room for most if not all the other close family-guests when it comes to moving on to the wedding reception venue. But whatever it may be, you, the g room, must give transport the serious thought it requires.

No one wants to look an imbecile at their wedding, especially you, so don't delay - start planning today.
