5 Easy Steps To Beat Depression With Online Life Coaching

Turn on the television in the evening and you'll see dozens of commercials for antidepressant medications. The World Health Organization, in a report released in 2001, predicted that depression would be the second most common cause of death behind heart disease. Current statistics show that thirty percent of all women in developed countries suffer from some kind of depressive symptoms, along with almost twenty percent of the men. Eighty percent of those who do suffer, both women and men, will never seek help.

Staggering, isn't it? Medical professionals around the world have been working for decades to slow down the alarming increase in depressive disorders that has become so prevalent in developed countries like the United States and Great Britain. That's why, when you turn your television on at night, you see all those commercials for medications that can "help" you with your condition. Some of them might, but they are not the only solution.

There are other steps you can take that don't involve the expense or potential harmful side effects of prescription medication. No one is going to tell you that your doctor was wrong when he prescribed that anti-depressant, but even he will agree that trying some of the life changes below will definitely help you deal with your depression. Here is a list of five simple steps you can take to start out with:

Exercise Regularly: Put together an exercise routine and follow it. Healthy physical activity is one of the top preventative recommendations for just about every physical, mental or psychological disorder. The human body is a machine that is made up of moving parts, chemicals, and fluids which need to be in constant flow for it to work properly. Exercise stimulates that motion and also causes your endorphin level to go up, a positive process which will improve your mood and alleviate some of your depression.

Eat Nutritional Foods: Check the labels on what you eat and you'll find that most of those canned and packaged foods you buy in the supermarket are loaded with sodium and fat. Try eating healthier, more natural foods. Fruits and vegetables are good, as is anything with high protein and fiber. Pay attention to what you consume at meal times and eliminate the snacks and junk food in between and before you go to bed. You'll feel healthier and happier as a result.

Go Outside Every Day: The human body, like many other living organisms on this planet, requires sunlight to thrive and grow. If you're spending all of your time indoors, you will be less healthy and suffer from a deep depression which comes from the deprivation of sunlight and clean air that humans need to be whole and complete. Go outside every day and take a walk, even if you're just going to the corner store or coffee shop.

Get a Good Night's Sleep: Do this every night if you can, or as often as possible if your work schedule doesn't allow for a regular sleep cycle. Sleeplessness can be deadly. It is actually ranked up there with depression itself as one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Sleep often and sleep well. A lack of sleep can be caused by depression or be the cause of depression, so getting caught up in long periods of time without sleep can be extremely dangerous.

Seek Help from a Life Coach: Most of us have a hard time dedicating ourselves to do the four previous steps listed above. Exercising regularly, eating right, getting outside every day, and sleeping through the night aren't easy for someone who is already suffering from depression. Life Coaching can help. You can generally find it online and set it up in a few simple steps. You don't need to go to a doctor or tell someone your life story. You just need to want the help. Try life coaching to help you work these steps and change your life for the better.
